Review of Garden State (2004) by Jonathan K — 15 Dec 2010
A good soundtrack and Natalie Portman's delightful performance isn't enough. this film is awkward and poorly paced. Braff's emotional journey is dull and yet barbed with moments of ill-timed emo.
The passage from medicated to clarity is abrupt and disjointed, leaving the film with less authenticity than its pretentiousness would warrant.
