Review of Garden State (2004) by Will D — 09 Feb 2012
Now this film did come out a few years ago and the longer a film is out, in my opinion, either the better or worse it gets. in this films case, it's better the more times you watch. it's a simple story: a struggling actor named andrew largeman, played wonderfullly and it's writer director zach braff, returns home after his parapelegic mother dies.
now as wonderful and different braff is from his scrubs role, the role most people may know him from, it is not him I like most. it is the cute as a button natalie portman.this is the film which I really noticed how striking she really is.
and she is'nt playing a sexy character, in fact her character is very flawwed. she is a pathological liar who suffers from seizures. it is really her that makes this movie work for me. and everything else is great in this film to; the music, which braff won a grammy for I think, the small comic moments, and all the old high school friend that largeman runs into.
I cannot say how much I really like this film. just go watch it already!
