Is it a comedy? Or a drama? While Braff's first movie is not bad for a first timer, it is unfocused in its theme and direction, reaching the end by happy accident rather than on purpose. The material Braff intended to cover unfortunately has been done by others (and done better), but the performances are sweet and simple.
It does have a great soundtrack.
