Review of Gangster Squad (2013) by Afm185 — 21 Jun 2020
Pretty enjoyable. It a feels a bit familiar, but I can’t think of any parts I disliked or was bored by. The story is interesting even if it’s obvious what’ll end up happening, you’re more or less just guessing who’ll end up dying, and a decent amount of the movie doesn’t exactly have the plot progressing but those scenes were entertaining nonetheless.
Characters were mostly at least decent, some were great imo (although I can only remember like three names), and the acting across the board is really good. Some of the dialogue, too, is actually well written which I appreciated.
The action is fun to watch although not particularly amazing. What’s cool about the whole thing is it’s based on a true story. The only things that they pulled were the three main characters though.
Mickey was a super famous gangster, Jack and Jerry were police officers, and the Gangster Squad was a team (way bigger than in the movie) that went after organized crime.
