I wanted to love this movie. I really did. Unfortunately, it was impossible to love. This was my least-favorite of Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling's roles. No matter how much I tried to believe, it didn't feel like the 20's.

At all. In spite of all of this, The main redeeming factor was Sean Penn. He was fully committed to his role and played it well. I really enjoyed his role and thought it was executed quite nicely.
