Bettany is terrifying. What a great actor, and how fun this role must have been, all that glowering and doomy language. Clockwork Orange references are silly, and the movie's understanding of the characters' psychology is finally, disappointingly, unsubtle.
But these stars are made entirely out of actorly charisma.
