Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Naomi G — 21 Sep 2015
Scorsese spins a yarn of Dickensian sensibility and streetwise honesty. It's an origins story to his entire career. Such an ambition deserves a stronger story, but we take what we can get. 'Gangs of New York' is very much an alive chapter in American history, albeit a flawed, raspy one.
