Gangs of New York was not exactly what I expected it to be - it had some cheek with the costumes and some characters, and I expected a more serious/strictly historical drama. I wasn't thrilled that the movie was sometimes hard to follow - it was so nuanced that I had trouble at times connecting what was happening, but it was too long to rewind and keep re-watching, as well.
However, the cast was impressive and Daniel Day-Lewis was quite good, so I am glad I watched it.
