Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Richard L. E — 31 Aug 2014
Though not as much of a historical epic as Scorcese pictured it to be, Gangs of New York is still a phenomenal film. The way it captures life in the Five Points during the Civil War mixed with Daniel Day-Lewis's transformation into Bill the Butcher gives it what it deserves despite it's oddly structured subplots.
