The only problem is the length and that is about it. Martin Scorsese in my opinion has never made anything below average or even average and Gangs of New York is a testament to how great of a filmmaker he is.
Daniel Day-Lewis is fantastic, Leo is great, and I didn't actually hate Cameron Diaz either. The set design is probably the best part because it engrosses you in this world that Scorsese has marvelously recaptured.
Gangs of New York is one of his best.
