Review of Gandhi (1982) by Adrian W — 06 Dec 2008
Historically not very accurate at all. It's basically an ad for Indian-style pacifism - paid largely by India. That's probably why Jinnah gets such a bad press in it.
But if you treat the movie rather as glorification of ideals, rather than a historic epic, then you can enjoy Ben Kingsley's great performance, the good cinematography and an inspiring 'personality'.
