Review of Gandhi (1982) by Nichola M — 02 Mar 2009
An epic film for an epic man. The story of Gandhi is truly inspiring and will leave you with the sense that anything is possible. Gandhiâs method of fighting for a cause using non-violent resistance is revolutionary and inspired the great Martin Luther King Jr, and subsequently millions of people around the world.
Watching this film shows you why. Ben Kingsley is a delight and it is easy to see why he was awarded the Best Actor Oscar for this role. He manages to keep Gandhi down to earth and human, rather than playing him up as some sort of godly figure, which when you consider what he achieved in this lifetime, would be easy to do.
As Albert Einstein said of Gandhi "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth". Watch this film and believe.
