While Ben Kingsley's name is sort of synonymous with bad movies nowadays, he does an incredible job in this movie. What I liked about this biopic was that it told the story of somebody whose story was worth telling. Whatever knocks might exist against Gandhi's character (and this movie glosses over all that) he's still pretty much one of the best people the human race has produced. Nowadays biopics seem interested in quirky characters or musicians or whatnot; they might be interesting, but at the end of the day they aren't exactly Mahatma Gandhi. Great movie, great man.

Also, if there is an afterlife, how would you like to be the guy to face it after having assassinated Mahatma Gandhi? You aren't justifying that. There's no defense. You shot Mahatma Gandhi! You are so screwed. What possible reason would there have been to do that? (I would have liked the movie to actually answer the question, but it seemed that the entire point of the film was to tell us all how awesome Gandhi was and you know what? I'm pretty much OK with that.).
