Review of Gandhi (1982) by Rilda C — 14 Feb 2010

Gandhi is a riveting drama based on the life of lawyer Mohandas Gandhi who became an inspiration to the world. It follows his life and teachings from the time he started out on his journey as a young lawyer up until his untimely assassination. I found that I quite like this movie. Gandhi had an amazing way to bring all types of people together and make them realize that we are all equal in the eyes of god. I found his position on violence particularly interesting and found that he acted his position when ever a violent situation was presented.

This movie relates to world religions because it allows us a glimpse of what the culture is about as well as allow us to see the teachings as they are used in the everyday lives of the hindu people. Gandhi's teachings that all people are children of god regardless of race or religion are the basis of the hinuds beliefs.
