Review of Gamer (2009) by Bob S — 11 Feb 2011
Perhaps, on paper, the premise of prisoners combating to save their lives in a live-action video game looked like a great idea. Despite plenty of attempts, the story becomes muddled on film and we're not given enough background on the characters to care.
In the end, this movie is an excuse for excessive violence, bulging muscles and T&A. Butler is quickly becoming an enigmatic actor who never seems to turn down a script. Hall portrays a pretty good bad guy, but the role felt much too much like a reincarnation of Olyphantâ(TM)s villain from Live Free & Die Hard.
