Review of Game Night (2018) by Jacob M — 01 Mar 2018
Game Night - Review (2018).
The Good.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein surprised direction, I was quite worried after seeing what they did with Vacation (2015) which was nothing but poop humor, this on the other hand is smart humor that plays off each actor very well.
Jason Bateman is Jason Bateman which is always good.
Rachel McAdams is really great she got do a lot of funny crazy stuff in this which were hilarious.
Kyle Chandler plays Bateman's asshole brother.
Sharon Horgan is really good in I think her feature debut.
Billy Magnussen plays that idiot friend.
Lamorne Morris from New Girl is always great and Kylie Bunbury from the short ended show Pitch is also great.
Jesse Plemons steals every scene he is in nearly steals the movie as the creepy cop and I wanted more of him.
Jeffrey Wright is also good as well as Danny Huston (not playing a cartoon like in Wonder Woman) and Michael C. Hall.
The writing and running gags are great.
The Twist and Turns are great.
Has more heart that it should of had.
Its like what if David Fincher's The Game was a dark comedy.
The Bad.
Some of the marketing might of ruined some good jokes.
The crazy 3rd act of unbelievability.
Possibly teases a sequel I don't know.
Overall: I had a surprised fun time with this and this and this is also from Warner Brothers I actually now see why they chose these directors for Flash now, they have my confidence now, Vacation (2015) was just a bad fluke.
Overall Grade: B+.
