Review of Game Change (2012) by Adrian Z — 20 Oct 2012
Riveting account of the failed McCain 2008 campaign, with a focus on Sarah Palin. Julianne Moore is outstanding as Palin, who is depicted rather sympathetically as a person thrust into an insincere campaign process she has absolutely no preparation nor capacity for, but who still proves to be a hit with Republican followers.
The film skillfully weaves in media coverage of the campaign, even going as far as including Tina Fey's hilarious SNL send ups. Along with Jay Roach's other similarly themed film, "The Campaign", this has been a very political election year for the director.
"Game Change" comes off as the (much) better of the two, and is actually quiet funny in itself.
