Review of Galaxy Quest (1999) by Campbell P — 25 Feb 2015

I honestly thought I was really going to hate this movie, but I was wrong it ended up being pretty pleasant! Galaxy Quest is about a Star Trek type show that has its own convention in the stars of the show are kind of sick of being associated with it with the exception of Tim Allen's character who couldn't love it more.

The relationship between the characters in the beginning was a bit hateful but as the movie progressed they became closer and realize they were going to have to work together to live their fiction. In my opinion that's a pretty unique premise to a movie! The characters have good chemistry together on screen inch and really a bounce fun lines off of each other.

I was really impressed of how good the acting was considering this seemed like a B movie at first. The aliens are a lot of fun the characters from the show are fun and even the evil aliens are pretty fun too.

The cheesy sci-fi element to the movie was pretty funny and it definitely made me enjoy the movie more. The effects were pretty good in this movie despite the beginning part from the TV show. There's also a moral where it shows that it's important to have people help you once in a while and to not let your ego get the best of you.

The characters did learn from their experiences and I appreciated that. While the story, the characters, in the moral are the strong parts of the movie I had a bit of a problem with the comity portion.

Don't get me wrong this movie was pretty funny at times but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a full blown comedy. The aliens got annoying at some parts to and I couldn't tell if I was supposed to be laughing or not and if it was it really didn't work.

The beginning got off to kind of a slow start but once you really got into the spaceship it became a pretty fun film. Overall Galaxy Quest is a fun, funny, adventurous sci-fi film that was a surprise to me and has a high rewatchable factor.
