Review of Galaxy Quest (1999) by Donnie H — 23 Jan 2016
When I seen this film, the main thing on my mind was how this movie is to Star Trek, as Space Balls is to Star Wars. The big difference being that Galaxy Quest is filled with energy, has a better cast, good music, and much better humor.
; while Space Balls lacked energy, good music, and good humor, and instead made lame references and ridiculously stupid gags (like giving Yoda the name "Yogurt", and giving Chewbacca the name "Barf") rather than actually making jokes based on the subject matter.
Basically, Galaxy Quest succeeds on everything which Space Balls fails. Galaxy Quest also has surprisingly decent special effects (and fantastic ones in terms of most parody films). I also really love the cast of this movie; my favorite actor in it is Alan Rickman.
Overall, even if you aren't a Star Trek fan (neither am I), you should be able to enjoy the great writing, funny jokes, great cast, good effects, and good music. This is one of my personal favorite parody films.
