Review of Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life (2010) by Anthony B — 18 Aug 2010
I was extremely skeptical going into this film, as I knew it was based on a graphic novel and involved puppets, and well it is a music biopic which are most of the time utter rubbish.. (Ray,Walk the line, dream girls) But this one sits up with the big boys of great musical cinema, Control, Amadeus.
Thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. Sfars directing captures the characters attributes whether up-building or destructive, and has a deep style that never waivers.
Highly recommended.
