Review of Fuzz (1972) by Wild Willie N — 13 Sep 2009
Ed McBain's 87th Precinct comes to the big screen with this surprisingly cheeky crime drama. With a screenplay by McBain himself (going by Evan Hunter) it retains the gritty big city atmosphere and offbeat characters.
It gets off to a strong start, but isn't quite able to sustain its comic energy. Entertaining, but falls short of what it could have been. Great (if very dated) score by Dave Grusin.
