Review of Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008) by Immie D — 12 Feb 2012
Futurama's second full length feature, The Beast with a Billion Backs, is a near catastrophe. The overall story isn't cohesive and feels completely episodic, with several shifting stories that are only loosely connected.
And the few continuing story developments there are insult the fans; such as scuttling the Fry & Leela and Kif & Amy relationships. But as usual, the one plot line that works is Bender's: he joins a secret robot society and works to take control of it.
Yet despite the film's chaos, there are moments where the Futurama comedy stylings come through and deliver the funny. Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs is a disappointing and embarrassing outing for the franchise and makes one wonder if it was better off cancelled.
