Review of Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (2009) by Juhani L — 20 Jan 2010
'Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder' is based on the hit Cult Animation TV Adult show, begging a 4 part TV Movie (This one number four) and is created by Matt Groening (The Simpsons). As Futurama (TV Show) was cancelled from FOX, they made four part straight-to-DVD films (this being fourth) they are now make series six of the show, but will be now on Comedy Central (hopeful will be on Sky one in UK soon). Basically the plot is about Leela becomes an outlaw when she and a group of ecologically-minded feminists attempt to save an asteroid of primitive life forms from being destroyed, while Fry joins a secret society and attempts to stop a mysterious species known as the "Dark Ones" from destroying all life in the universe.
This TV Movie is amazingly funny, hilarious, couldn't stop laughing, genius Futurama stuff, Animation & Sci-Fi are truly out of this world and have done wounds for them self, also one of the best four part movie ever, very well done (Can't wait to see series six). The film has an aswome Plot/Storyline for its hardcore fans to understand, laugh loads and love, while being true to the show and character this would be the greatest ending for Futurama, but am soo glad they're bring the show back because I couldn't understand why they got rid of it if it's got a huge fan-base for the show and id a cult TV show it's a rare scene of comedy for adults and teenagers and is terrific to is genre/element; Animation, Comedy, Sci-Fi & having its usually side dish romance.
The TV Movie was made on a budget between $1-10 Million (as it was a direct-to-DVD Movie) and has soo far grossed on DVD sales and rentals worldwide $18.6 Million (from when it realest on 23rd February 2009 to 19th April 2009, since January 2010). The critics has received Mixed Reviews for the film, While audience and fans of the show have critically acclaimed all four straight to DVD movie and that why Comedy Central wants Futurama to be on their show with season six coming out middle of 2010. The movie is distributed by 20th century fox home entertainment (which is the mother of Fox TV Show and over all four movies of the show), while having Comedy Central promoting the film as well.
The cast are brilliant as you ally (In TV show and the rest of the three films). The acting is great by; Seth MacFarlane, Lauren Tom, John Di Maggio, Katey Sagal & Billy West which are all perfect in the roles as of TV show as well, the acting, writing and directing is clever and witty(While having a cameo by Snoop Dogg-which he was alright).
Overall the film is fanatics its not on long, but is well worth seeing as I love the TV Show Futurama and is one of my favourite TV show and this movie 'Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder' is one of the best movie out of the four is a huge Lough out loud comedy/Sci-Fi/ Adult Animation is clever and strong for the fans of the Film and TV show. The film is different worth a watch for young adults, teenagers and of course the hardcore fans of the cult TV Show, it beyond a silly, joke-ish, brilliant Futurama film (The film also gives a positive message about Evolution & get of animals, while joking about it, but also being serious) it's goanna be a Cult Classic. Lv It!!
