Review of Fury (2014) by Lee D — 26 Apr 2015
I am actually quite on the fence with Fury. while the story is well told, showing the brutal and ugly side of war, the performances are quite well done, also showing how war can take effect on the human soul, there is just something that left me feeling a little off with this one. some of these characters we follow throughout the film are very hard to root for, two of them especially are very cruel and bitter men. and while I understand that they are that way because of the brutality they've witnessed, it just makes it hard to watch them and want them to survive. Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf are my two favorites here, giving very believable performances and offering the two characters that I felt still maintained some level of humanity throughout the film. the story is also difficult to watch as, again, it is very brutal and ugly in nature.
All in all, Fury is very effective in showing the nature of war and the effects it can have on an individual, its a little hard to watch but worth a once over.
