Review of Fury (2014) by Blæke W — 22 Feb 2015
A definitive character drama though an action period piece more to the point. Not so epic a feature as say 'saving private ryan' or the multitude of predecessors but on the same level of ww2 bravado using the warriors technology available to the time. it was a pivotable time in the advancement of tank warfare and came along way up until the gulf war but was a darker period in American superiority becoming more and more a medium to long range to date even in this the front grunt forefront confrontation to the naked eye.
A lot of this film relied of being knowledgeable of the time and place from one side late in this great conflict, this being the allied side of course in a German occupied France. So I viewed 'Valkyrie' the afternoon before hand to get a feeling for the peoples love for the place there, weather Germanic descendant or erm French but alas was not so relevant and turned out to be very situational, chain of command, and camaraderie instilling a greater skill at the immediate requirement necessary.
I really did like this heartfelt, raw and progressive capture of the boundaries of the peoples relationship in such long term close quarters dam near evil provoking hatred to push on if nothing else at the end of the war but still on the front, from both sides. obviously using the SS to focus that upon and really dig the heals into with an evil grin if you like.
