Review of Fury (2014) by Scott G — 18 Oct 2018
Fury 4/5 Stars.
Brad Pitt and Shia Lebouf (YES that Shia Lebouf) put in some fantastic character performances for this intimate look at an American tank crew toward the end of World War II. There was some very good supporting acting in this film as well. Nothing too fancy, just a gritty, tight story that was much deeper than the words in the dialogue. What you feel or think about war, morality, the human condition, duty.. none of that matters in the face of mud, and bleeding and murder and the onrushing train of the certainty of death. The entire second act of this movie is strange, and totally off the rails, and couldve been completely wrong for the movie if it werent for the thoughts and emotions it provoked in just the right ways. There is no Glory on the real battlefield, only Fury.
