Review of Fury (2014) by Akiko A — 27 Jun 2015
'Fury' is a decent war movie taken from the point of view of one group of men who man the Sherman tank 'Fury'. There are times when I watch this movie that I do think that I have seen this before in other war movies, but the reason turns out is because a lot of what happened to in different situations was so similar.
Brad Pitt's performance as Don 'Wardaddy' Collier, commander of 'Fury' is a dark portrayal of a man who has seen some horrific acts of war, & tries to keep his men sane & together.
You can see a resolve that he knows he may not survive this war. When a young man Norman Ellison (a clerk) is assigned to his tank with very little skills in fighting. 'Wardaddy' finds himself having to break in his new recruit with the harsh realities of war.
As they take on missions, they find themselves out numbered & ill prepared for what is ahead of them. As they try to hold off territory by not letting the Germans pass, they are met by a SS Unit with a huge army against the men of one tank.
As the men from the Sherman tank make a commitment to hold their ground...a sophisticated strategy is put in place they hope will help them defend their position & become heroes. It is an intimate view of the fighting during the World War & the sacrifices the men made serving our country in the Sherman Tanks.
