Review of Fury (2014) by Susie L — 21 Sep 2016
Pitt, plays a tough love, zero emotion, zero shit taker solider. Who looks like he's been dragged through horse shit.
Lerman, plays a girny, winey young man who can't face up to what his new job title involves.
LaBeouf is a bible bashing born again. This is LeBoufs acting at it's very best and the only roll I've ever seen him play well.
We also have two gentle man who are, less famous, Bernthal who is your typical horrible, tough guy, no caring attitude and Pena is a Mexican born solider.
The director has thrown in Scott Eastwood for some reason, who is briefly spotted eatting a snack while laughing at Lerman being forced to shoot another man by Pitt. He also dies 10 minutes later, that's how important he is.
This film is directed beautifully. Every emotion your body can feel, feels it. Ayer manages to keep you emotionally involved through out the whole picture. There is no shying away from showing how brutal WW2 really was. Lerman, falls for a beautiful young woman. Although that small part of a scene was tender, it was unnecessary.
The dynamic between the actors is flawless.
Excellent film.
