Review of Furious 7 (2015) by Dallin H — 12 Dec 2015
This series has gone from character driven action, showing that criminals are people too and that the world isn't black and white, to ridiculous and nonsensical shenanigans. This movie in particular is a far cry from its roots, and while it isn't the worst action movie ever, it certain isn't the best.
This goes beyond simply the stunts, which are more and more over the top with each passing movie, but even the plot is crazy. A computer program that can access every single device on the planet, without needing to obtain permission? Even if it was run on a supercomputer, that's impossible. Suspending disbelief is one thing, but that... that's just stupid.
Not only that, but Paul Walker's character Brian living on and "retiring" is a total cop-out. I get that the guy died, and they wanted to give his character a nice final moment, but that went beyond sentimental. It was downright cheesy.
It'll be good for a one time viewing, but it's not worth another 2 1/2 hours of my life or anybody elses.
