Review of Furious 7 (2015) by Shane B — 03 Jul 2015
Furious 7 carries on the team dynamic and its a hell of a fun time at the cinema. The best way to prepare yourself for this film is to take it in as pure entertainment with incredible stunts and fast cars. Sure it's unrealistic and over the top, but that's what it's all about, and that's what makes these films so fun.
The stunts in this film are fantastic, particularly the tower sequence and the parachuting cars sequence. Fans of the franchise also get a clever call back to Tokyo Drift and there is brief appearances made by "Sean" and "Twinkie". Also I was very impressed with the cinematography, this film was beautiful to look at. This film also contains also some brilliant one liners from Hobbs,Torretto ,Brian and others. The chemistry of the crew is great as always with Game Of Thrones Nathaile Emmanuel slotting right in.
However above all the stunts, explosions and one liners my favorite thing about this film was the respect given to the late Paul Walker, it handled his tragic death so well. The symbolism of him taking the exit off the main road and driving into the sunset was just breathtaking.
As for negatives with this film the story doesn't make a lot of sense, and is quite convoluted at times. Also I felt Dwayne Johnson's "Hobbs" was under-utilized and Statham's "Deckard" was a pretty one note villain.
Overall I had a very fun time with Furious 7.
