Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Walter M — 27 Dec 2007
Kidman is hot as a brunette, and Downey's character is interesting. But I didn't get much else out of this movie.
I was especially distrubed by Downey's shaving at the end. I felt this had to be a construct just to give Downey some face time on camera. Apparently, not everyone has the humility of Hugo Weaving in "V for Vendetta" (he got zero face time -- replacing James Purefoy, who apparently had a problem with that arrangement).
And what of Downey's shaving? He had to do it to die? He had to do it to screw Kidman? I was disturbed by his sudden rejection of what he had previously seemed well integrated (i.e., his hair). It made me lose respect for his character... making me care less about his demise.
