Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Jean B — 01 Jan 2008
The movie as a whole was not that great... but then again, what more can you expect from an imaginary biography of Diane Arbus (whatever that means), right? However, I thought Nicole Kidman's acting was never off.
Robert Downey, Jr.'s character, on the other hand, just didn't blend with the actor... he acted well enough, but you were constantly reminded of the actor and not convinced of his character. Moreover, though this story involved a married couple struggling with adultery, husband and wife did not survive the ultimate test.
.. though that's been true of most of the artist-ography movies I've seen. Overall, this one is strictly for the die-hard Kidman fans.
