Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Christine B — 11 Mar 2008
I gave this 4 stars bearing in mind this is more fiction (you see... imaginary portrait) than biopic (I know a lot of Diane Arbus followers are mad with the imaginary story and characters). While I understand their anger, I also recognised the great chemistry betweem the leads.
The imaginary man, Lionel, was played by the ever excellent Robert Downey Jr. He made the journey, which the audience shared with Kidman's Diane, colourful, alive and human. Kidman is also great as the confused and lost.
It is a beautiful and touching story on life.
