Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Essi P — 23 Mar 2008
Exquisite, daring and original but it goes too far from reality without really illuminating the life of the mysterious photographer.
Robert Downey Jr. is a genius (then again, we all knew that already). Nicole Kidman's take on Arbus is both touching and compelling. However, I would have preferred a more realistic movie instead of a fable. Arbus' photos are very intriguing, but the film doesn't concentrate on her work. The film never really succeeds in diving into Arbus' mindset, it just scratches the surface.
