Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Dean M — 02 Oct 2008
Not sure what to make of this. I kept thinking that without the context of Diane Arbus, this story would just have fallen over. Which in itself is exactly why it needed her context, however it almost feels like this most obvious point, makes the film someone obvious in itself.
It has it's moments though. The underlying pretence of the film, and the way it questions normality, banality and creativity, was heartwarming of course, but it almost seems a little obvious and even unreal considering the real story of Diane Arbus - almost like an add exaggeration in some ways.
Odd really. Maybe that's the point?
