Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Eric B — 10 Nov 2008
I loved the film, mostly for what I saw represented--not shunning, but embracing the oddities in people. How boring this world would be if we all stuck to being cookie cutter pieces. Diane Arbus embraced the differences-and found beauty in them. I wish everyone could see the world through such a set of eyes.
On the other side of the coin though is the sadness and loneliness that I think is often either caused or an effect of being a sensitive, artistic soul.
I am definately becoming a fan of Nicole Kidman for embracing such roles. I loved her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours as well.
