Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Jeff B — 09 Feb 2009
Fully prepared to hate this but actually managed to achieve a level of mere annoyance. I think it may have been some the sets that distracted me from focusing solely on hackneyed script devices and glazed acting.
If the studios were bold enough to attempt a surrealist tone poem about a fairly strange artist, did they think they would gain a wider audience by ham-handedly cramming it into the arc of a conventional hollywood love-tragedy? it winds up excluding both potential audiences.
this was in many ways The Hours, but with ALOT more transvestite midgets.
