I'll say this: given Apatow's track record, this is his most burgeoned and accomplished project. It definitely never runs dry of discords, which is solid, but it eventually grows too sappy for my taste.

It becomes a confused, pessimistic tale that is trying to be revived by silly witticisms. It does't feel organic at all. I walked away thinking it was better than it was because of the notable cast (whom of which I respect for the most part); eventually, I realized that "Funny People" was really nothing more than "funny people" oozing with sentimentality and (trying to) obscure it with gags.

An apocryphal story that believes in itself excessively. Aziz is downright hilarious notwithstanding.
