Review of Funny People (2009) by Charlie B — 31 Jul 2011
My review might be skewed, because i'm trying to become a stand-up comedian myself, but I really enjoyed this movie. It's a lot more of a drama than most people expected going into it, and I think that's why some of the reviews are skewed.
Seth Rogen really shines, Adam Sandler puts on his big boy acting pants, and Judd Apatow does his normal, great thing and what you get is a very good movie that has a much deeper message about the "could have beens" and "what ifs" in life that seem to come to the forefront of our minds when we are told we are going to die, and how a man who all his life has relied on being funny, and now has no one in the end, and how he tries to make amends.
and a little adultery, but who doesn't like that.
