Review of Funny People (2009) by Aleshia H — 24 Feb 2012
I really am kicking myself after watching this movie. Why, oh why, did I ever think an Adam Sandler movie was going to be decent?
Maybe it was the presence of Seth Rogen, who was off his game in this one.
But I guess what really attracted me to sit and watch this one was the drama that was supposedly behind it. And yes, you almost felt for Sandler's character while he actually suffered. Then he used his suffering as an excuse to manipulate people and be generally unfunny. Surprise, it's a Sandler movie. What else did you expect?
Failed to live up to the promise. The only big laugh I got was when Eric Bana tore a new one into the Collingwood Football Club.
Oh, and also, if Jonah Hill insists on being Seth Rogen's unfunny clone, he really should stop appearing in the same movies as Seth Rogen.
