Review of Funny People (2009) by Ryan V — 25 Mar 2012
Seth Rogen plays a struggling comedian who accidentally befriends a jaded and cancer-ridden superstar (Adam Sandler). While gigging at comedy venues the pair grow as pals while Sandler's character attempts to woo a married old flame (Leslie Mann).
Funny People, an overlong film by Judd Apatow, strains to be hilarious and emotionally moving in equal parts. Mediocre acting, bad editing, and a horde of pointless cameos instead turn this movie into a tiresome chore to watch.
