Review of Funny People (1976) by Paul D — 08 Sep 2013
In my eyes this is definitely a career highlight for Adam Sandler, playing a comedian who has had essentially the same career as Sandler. The meta aspect of Sandler kind of playing himself with actual footage of him younger was very interesting to me and really started the movie off on a strong note.
My only real problem with the movie is that it feels almost like two different movies smashed together. I love the first half of the movie where it is focusing on different types of comedic performers and the sickness of George Simmons, but once it takes a turn in a different direction I didn't dig it as much and slowed the movie down for me.
