Review of Funny People (1976) by Matt G — 29 Jun 2015
There is a saying: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day." Every now and then, Adam Sandler makes a great movie. This movie is pretty good but it goes back and forth between sadness and extreme hilarity.
This movie could have been perfect had it been edited properly. This is where Judd Apatow takes the anomaly of the "Knocked Up" 2 1/2 hour comedy too far. He would continue this I am sad to say.
I do wonder to myself - Does Adam Sandler know that the stupid movies parodied in this movie are a direct reflection of his own stupid movies? Regardless - once again - we know that if Adam Sandler is starring in a movie that was NOT produced by Happy Madison - it will probably be good.
