Review of Funny Girl (1968) by Matt M — 16 Mar 2013
Musical and highly fictionalised account of the life of Fanny Brice, a Ziegfeld star who won audiences with her comic antics and powerful singing, and her troubled love story with a professional gambler.
Streisand reprises her Broadway role in this film production signed by Wyler who makes everything look majestic and glamorous, in a role that she was seemingly born to play. The musical numbers are very lively and the art direction is wonderful.
