Review of Funny Girl (1968) by Leia B — 23 Feb 2005
For it is true; the people who see Funny Girl are the luckiest people in the world.
Funny Girl stars Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif. Streisand plays Fanny Brice, a unique and talented comidienne/singer. Fanny is one determined girl. She is bound to have her name in lights. In order to do this she begins performing at a local music hall. Before Fanny knows it, she is requested to participate in the Ziegfield Follies, which were a well known group of performances of their time. As Fanny suceeds in her career, she falls head over heals in love with one debonair gambler, Nick Arnstein (Sharif). She marries and settles down; and eveything looks like happily ever after, until things come crashing down and Fanny has to choose between the man or job of her dreams.
