Review of Funny Girl (1968) by Layne W — 15 Mar 2008
Barbra Streisand's debut is like the arrival of a fully-realized star. Her peculiarity and comic timing are exquisite, not to mention that never-to-be-equaled voice. When she unleashes that whopper of an instrument during the heartbreaking finale, a miraculous single-take in which she sings about her loyalty to her man, you can almost feel her emotions raging inside her, radiating off the screen.
