Review of Funny Games (1997) by Emma F — 05 Oct 2008
I just didn't really get the point of this. It does a few 'clever' things later in the film (hence the 3 stars), which I guess is why people go on about it, but was that the only reason it was made, so the 'clever' ideas could be put into practice? It didn't make me think "ooh, this film is confronting me with my own voyeurism" because I wasn't watching it in that way, but just to see if there was a reason for the hype.
And the characters weren't developed enough for me to feel a connection to any of them so I didn't care what happened and didn't find it particularly disturbing.
