Review of Funny Games (1997) by Margaux D — 28 Oct 2009
What could be considered as a strong psychological thriller, turns out to be a wonderful critique of the modern horror film. Breaking the 4th wall numerous times, "Funny Games" questions the sheer voyeurism that is attached when enjoying horror films that are filled with psychos and gore.
"Funny Games" doesn't really scare, but it will make its audience question their ethics when it comes to where they seek their entertainment. I know I did, and that's the mark of a strong film.
