Review of Funny Face (1932) by Nellie K. A — 10 Apr 2008
How anyone can accuse the dance sequences of being mediocre is beyond me, anything that has Fred Astaire's brilliant movements in cannot be bad. I admit there were a few times I thought Audrey could have done a little better, but I put that down to two thing - first off, I've seen Fred dancing with a huge number of people now, and everyone is bound to be different from the other, and secondly, it is easy to think someone could be doing better when they are dancing next to the genius of Astaire!
I loved the dance scene outside her window he did, it made me laugh, and I loved their dance scene in the church yard, the setting just made it so much more beautiful.
The story was cute, and it had some amazing songs, I really loved Astaire's version of 'I Love Your Funny Face'. I also loved all the Paris locations and some of the outfits Hepburn wore were spectacular.
