Review of Funny Face (1932) by Matthew P — 15 Feb 2009
What a lovely film. It feels fresh (even for an old film) and honest more than anything. It's not book worm meets hot hunk as so many films are, instead, its intelligence meets charm. The film's writing is ferociously funny with some great songs that are hard not to sing along to.
I would have cut out the "how to look lovely" song (it felt like it was squeezed in and disrupted the flow), but other than that, it was a great film.
